Flexing our creative muscles is important; working out our whimsical self is vital to living this life created. I don't know about you, but I tend to push too hard and stretch too little. Sometimes we all just need to take a big deep breath...an inspiration. Just as vital as creating with regularity is relaxing and letting life flow through you.
Sometimes, for whatever reason(s), I find myself stuck on the notion of producing. I tell myself I must be producing art/writing/images/whatever it is... I simply must have something tangible to show for time spent NOT tending to someone else's needs or activities of daily living or the house. Sometimes I lose sight of the importance of being near the top of my own priority list. If I don't allow space for self care I am less effective as a mother, a lover, a creative, a business owner. Yes, creating is good for my soul, but the in-breath is every bit as vital as the out-breath and sometimes I just need to visit an art museum and go out for coffee afterwards, or grab a camera and explore my surroundings with play as my only objective, or my personal favorite... relax into a bubble bath with a good book and an even better IPA.
This week's T.A.C.O. Tuesday serves as a reminder to indulge in a little self care. Spend an hour, or two or three, breathing in-deeply...breathe in this life and your love for it. Let yourself do one or two or three or four or five of your favorite things!
