T.A.C.O. Tuesday | Coloring Book
...And here we go again. It's Tuesday! This week's T.A.C.O. Tuesday was a lot of fun! Simple, really. Practice your drawing skills. Take a page from a coloring book--- get yourself a paper, pencil and eraser-- set a timer for 20 minutes. Freehand. Don't worry about drawing it to scale, if it's eensy weensy and leaves TONS of white space-fine; if it's super giant and you fill your paper with only a portion of the original image, fine. Just draw. Trust your hand and your ability, you've only got 20 minutes.
Of course, I chose a Lisa Frank image! A unicorn, even.
I actually surprised myself with how well I was able to draw this. Drawing is not my strong point.
Now color it....
Clearly, coloring didn't work out for me nearly as well as drawing did. I thought my mixed media paper would be enough to handle watercolor pencils, but it wasn't. Little chunks of paper were coming up as I colored, and by the time I got to the body the baby was crying for a boob (again...growth spurt!) I thought I could finish it while Nikki paced with him. Nope. Oh well. I finished quickly, not happy with the coloring job but ready to feed my sweet baby boy.
I've been informed that the only thing wrong with this coloring page is this unicorn is a unicorn's "brown brother" because unicorns are white. Personally, I think the strange spots make him look as though he's suffering from some sort of rare unicorn skin disorder. Alas! the end result wasn't the point anyhow... the point was to get myself to let go of my inner critic just long enough to trust that maybe I can draw. Have fun with this!
....and this is a good Tuesday to share with your kiddos...
