Steal My Ideas | Go Make Something
I don't want to post tutorials. I've given this a lot of thought, come close a time or two and dipped my toes in the waters of lengthy explanations and linkage and step-by-step photos. Ok. I may have made a tutorial once... possibly twice. But I've done some thinking and I don't want to do that. If you are reading my words and enjoying my shared perspective on life and spirit and art, you don't need another crafty recipe. You need inspiration, a prompt... a swift kick in the metaphorical tooshie.
I once believed the struggle was proof that I wasn't an artist; that I was so far from even being able to call myself an artist. I believed that art came naturally to artists and, until I was in a place where art wasn't such a struggle, I just wasn't in that club. I want to throw my head back and laugh out loud so hard that my past self will hear a distant cackling.
I want to wake up and see that art is struggle and struggle is art and life is both art and struggle and it's all interchangeable... a big mishmash of life/mind/body/spirit lessons to be learned in this short time that we're enrolled in the 'school of being human'.
I don't want to make tutorials, I want to show my work...like back in grade school math, where one not only needed arrive at an answer but also prove that they understood the process. I want to show you what I've done and highlight what I thought to be important about the journey from idea incubation to post production. And then I want you to steal my ideas.
Steal my ideas. Hold them in your mind (or history bar) and draw on them for inspiration...create something fresh or reproduce them exactly, or try to. Try your hand at recreating an exact copy of my work...try as you may, you won't be able to stop the part that shines through and makes you uniquely you. It's the signature of your spirit as expressed through paint meeting paper.
With artwork that appears on the blog, I will list materials used... I'll talk to you about the flavors...but it's up to you to create your own main dish. Follow along my path, or venture off somewhere new and exciting... just get off your butt and go make something!
