Light Up Mount Dora | Lensbaby Photography
Mount Dora knows how to do Christmas. That's a fact.
Every holiday season, the City of Mount Dora and local merchants work together to create an atmosphere of celebration throughout downtown...and they do it well. Over 2 million lights decorate the parks, government buildings, and businesses and there are events to spread cheer all through the month of December.
I simply could not resist taking an evening with the Lensbaby and walking the streets of downtown. Using the creative aperture disc (what makes all the pretty, swirly shapes in the image) had me seeing the scene in a new way.
Local business owner Kim Pinson of Whispering Winds says, "Mount Dora has a special kind of subtle magic. During the holidays, that magic bursts out into the streets and shops in a most fantastical fashion. Everywhere you look, people are smiling, children are laughing and music fills the air. Mount Dora is what the holidays are meant to be."
The downtown decor would not be complete without the 40-foot-tall musical Christmas tree located on 4th Avenue. It really is a sight to see, and I love these shots I got with the single glass optic. This is the 6th year the tree has been a part of the holidays in Mount Dora, thanks to Main Street Leasing.
